KCEO pays for part of the students school fees, provides learning materials and empowers, motivates and encourages children to make better decisions for the future.
Collaboration and efective resource mobilisation will ensure that many more children have the opportunity to go to school.
This program aims to empower students with information they may not have access to at home or at school. Topics include: Life changes (body and self-esteem, friendship, the opposite sex and relationships, sex education, school and peer pressure, HIV and STI's, environment, corruption and parents and family.
KCEO currently targetss 26 schools in Kibera and works with them once a week. This program is funded by the recycling project.
This program aims to improve the environmental conditions at the slum by managing garbage. KCEO partners with local youth groups to collect and sort garbage of families in the program. The plastic bottles and metals are taken to recycling companies while the polythene bags are cleaned and used to make bags, jewelery and other products.
This is both a source of employment for youth groups and also a solution to manage garbage in the slum. The funds raised from the garbage collection and sale of products are used to fund the behaviour change and education programs.
